Characteristic features:

  • self-limiting

  • heals without scar

  • predisposing factors: sunlight exposure, stress , GIT disturbance, Trauma

  • secondary form of HSV-1

  • vesicles that coalesce then rupture to form ulcers forming crust due to 2ry infection in RHL

  • avoid sunlight exposure and acyclovir 5% ointment 5times/day for 5 days in RHL

  • 2% tetracycline mouthbath 4times/day after meals and before bedtime in RIOH

Differential diagnosis:

  • herpetiform aphtous ulcers

  • herpangina


  • herpes zoster
