Bullous pemphigoid

Characteristic features:

  • almost same features as benign mucous membrane pemphigoid and pemphigus vulgaris

  • C3 and circulating autoantibodies is detectable in indirect immunofluorescent test

  • urticarial rashes develop then bullae

  • desquamative gingivitis isn't common

  • no eye lesions

  • autoantibody against BP antigen at lamina lucida

  • both males and females

Differential diagnosis:

  • pemphigus vulgaris

pemphigus vulgaris
  • benign MMP

benign mucous membrane pemphigoid
  • atrophic lichen planus
