Characteristic features:
autoimmune antibodies attack antigen at a lower level of lamina lucida of basement membrane
more common in females
desquamative gingivitis
vesiculobullous lesions
indirect immunofluorescent test is oftenly inconclusive
eye lesions: photophobia, epiphora, symblepharon in late stages
heals by scar

Differential diagnosis:
erosive lichen planus

pemphigus vulgaris

systemic lupus erythematosus
